International buyers choose Première Vision Pluriel.

In a difficult economic climate, choosing quality is essential. International buyers made clear their choice by once again selecting Première Vision Pluriel, where they are sure to find creative and different products, and where, in their view, the opportunity to work remains without equivalent.
They came in force, from all points of the globe, throughout the four days of the session (19 -22 February 2008), with the result being that the 5 Première Vision Pluriel events (Expofil, Première Vision, Le Cuir à Paris, Indigo and Mod'Amont) all registered stable or increased numbers of visitors. A fine performance.

LE CUIR A PARIS : A SPARKLING EDITION

236 exhibitors, out of which 36 new comers, have participated in this 14th edition of LE CUIR A PARIS over a total surface of 7 764 sqm. This represents an increase of 21% in comparison to February 2007.
15 exhibiting countries were present. As usual, Italy comes in first place with 56% of the exhibiting surface, followed by France (23%) and Spain (10%). The presence of Brazil (4%) is now regular for both editions of the event.
10 649 visits were registered over the 4 days of the fair, an increase of 5,3% in comparison to February 2007. To be noted, a more important participation of international buyers coming from Italy (+22,57%), Great Britain (+17,5%), USA (+16%), Spain (+11%) and Japan (+4,8%). The French visitors were also on the increase with 6,9%.
This spring edition was marked with the good business flow that prevailed during the fair. A fact confirmed by the companies INDUCOL (Portugal) and M.C. CLOLS (Spain) which affirm having well worked, " even better than in February 2007 ".

" For the French tanneries, this February's edition of LE CUIR A PARIS has been very active from the very first day. The exhibitors appreciate that the visitors come from various sectors (leather goods, shoes, clothing, design…) and that they are increasingly international. Those who exhibited for the first time in February (such as Tannerie Pechdo, André Hiriar or Mégisserie Jocqueviel & Cathala) were very happy with the effervescence of this edition and have all given appointment for the next sessions. ", explains Sophie Hivert from the French Federation of Tanning.
In fact, the companies that exhibited for the first time in the fair have also benefitted from the dynamic work mood. Ingrid Coll from CURTIDOS CODINA (Spain), was pleased with the positive results obtained during the fair. " The visitors' quality is excellent and, a part from the French, we have seen several international visitors, most particularly the Germans, Japanese and Italians. We will come back next September with a bigger space ". The same positive feeling is shared by Ms Willeke Ansik from CONCERIA U RUSSO (Italy) who also considers LE CUIR A PARIS as " very interesting for the tannery's image ".

Mr Lorenzo Berrutti from BIZARRO LEATHERS says that he is " nicely surprised with the frequentation of the fair. A part from our usual clients, we have made many new contacts".
Several exhibitors have already reserved their participation in September 2008. This forthcoming autumn edition announces to be very rich in the diversity of materials presented. Mr Carlo Karwowski from CICB (Brazilian Centre for the Tanning Industry) confirms that Brazil will be regularly present in both annual editions of the fair and remains confident with regards to the potential of Brazilian exhibitors that he defines as " very creative ". " LE CUIR A PARIS offers unlimited potential for the companies that have creativity and product quality as a speciality. We are extremely satisfied and I hope to increase the Brazilian participation in the near future. ", he precises.
During his speech in the press meeting of LE CUIR A PARIS, Mr Piero Maccanti, President of the Tuscan Tanners' Association (Italy) outlined the importance of the trade fair for the Italian companies "… for the pre-selection, the meeting opportunities with the designers as well as the world famous brands what enables them to test the validity of their products. The presence with Première Vision for textiles and accessories producers facilitate the presence of the international buyers who come to discover the material offer, in a city that maintains its charm ".

Regarding the trends, summer 2009 has been declined in 7 fashion themes: In Love, Blue, Worrying, Carefree, Monacal, Turbulent, Green.

It will be a season high on bright colours, much fluorescent. Claude Vuillermet, stylist of LE CUIR A PARIS says: " "For this resolutely optimistic season, colour takes centre stage and joins forces with materials. Impossible to predict which will be champion: blues are playing across all tones; greens are insistent; yellows are intensifying; terracotta, lobster and mandarin persist; coloured neutrals calm things down. White covers all surfaces, black and red outline contours. Pink insists despite predictions of its imminent demise each season. A summer personified by a character whose hesitations and moods, we have chosen to relay, are described through 6 colour stories."

For this edition, LE CUIR A PARIS has selected, specially for the press, 5 favourite materials that illustrate some of the superb techniques employed by the tanners. You will find a detailed description on the document also attached herewith.
Last but not least, the designers present in the Designer's Village of LE CUIR A PARIS (Mireille Rohr- France, Dona Gueisha - Brazil and Hélène Thoorens - France) are satisfied with the appreciation of their products by visitors and exhibitors alike and affirm having made good professional contacts. The IFM (The French Institut of Fashion) exhibited beautiful prototypes in leather of shoes, gloves, clothing and other accessories done by 9 students and developed in collaboration with big names in fashion (Bally, Pollux, Louis Vuitton, among others).

LE CUIR A PARIS is proud of the visitor quality, the success of a well targeted marketing and the richness of the material supply.
The organisers give appointment for the 15ème edition : autumn/winter 2009-10 collection from 23 to 26 September 2008, hall 4, Paris Nord Villepinte.

Our Favourites

The quilted effect on cowhide from Gruppo Dani is particularly successful, even though there is no padding on the inside. Even the stitching seems real. It's supple and sumptuous, and also soft and smooth to the touch, but thick and resistant enough to make it an ideal material for manufacturing fine leather goods.

Covered with an extremely fine layer of white coating which in no way detracts from its suppleness, this beautiful lambskin from Officina delle Pelli is adorned with elegant black and white graphics by means of surface lacerations, which allow the black of its underside to show through. The black lines embedded in the skin in this way criss-cross in an irregular pattern, creating a motif that forms one body with the material.

Berlonzi's incredible talent transforms a simple foal skin into something exceptional. Cut into small squares, painstakingly plucked and dyed, it is further embellished with plaited strips of multicoloured cowhide. This spectacular work that is done entirely by hand is dazzling because of the prowess of its detail and creativity that breathe new life into tartan.

This double-sided lambskin from Bodin Joyeux makes textile lining seem a thing of the past. With one side briefly surface-treated and the other dyed through the full thickness, it can be used either way up and turned over at whim. The choice is yours - softer or smoother, blue or purple, according to your tastes in texture and colour.

Fresh and original, the grey and white chequered calfskin from the Tanneries Haas seduces with its delicate contours and subtle curves. Used for bags or shoes, it goes marvellously with the grey textiles that look set to last well into the summer of 2009.

What a joy it is to see all these blues on countless kinds of leather - calfskin, lambskin, goatskin, nubuck, exotic reptile skin…they all adopt blue with an enthusiasm and pertinence without ever distorting their own qualities. This multifaceted colour is at last daring to break free from the washed out tones that denim has trapped it in for too long, and renewing its ties with shades both intense or muted but never vulgar.
