We are currently searching for a Materials Manager to lead our materials team at our sourcing office in Zhongshan, Guangdong. The main responsibilities and experience required are as follows: Drive seasonal materials execution. Direct material sourcing, commercialization and delivery at established Converse quality standards. - Interact with designers, developers, head office material team, factory and supplier teams to achieve process excellence. - Take initiative in process improvements around material development, pricing and supply planning management. - Responsible for the coordination of the sample material process and execution based on established timelines. - With assistance from the US Materials team implement vendor rationalization, selection, and consolidation strategies. Work with internal teams and vendors to address pricing, planning, quality, and service requirements. Liaise with suppliers and orchestrate vendor visits. - Establish relevant development and production metrics and provide regular evaluations of vendor performance. Review plans and strategies at a weekly, monthly, seasonal and/or annual level. - Serve as a technical advisor to the materials and product developers on materials development Serve as a technical advisor to other employees on the PDM system processes and other materials procedures - Responsible for hiring, retaining and training of team. Provide on going coaching and counseling. - Candidate must have Strong understanding of Textiles including construction, yarn, fiber, dying, and finishing. - Experienced in sourcing materials from different vendors Knowledge of Nike standards an advantage Experience and knowledge of RSL an advantage Excellent written and oral English skills, be assertive, self motivated and the ability to work in a team environment.
