TOP-QUALITY PRODUCTS AND TARGETED TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES: THE FOOTWEAR INDUSTRY FINDS STRENGTH IN UNITY
It is quite possible to meet the challenges of the global market and do business in a rapidly changing world - with the help of a quality product and new know-how.
It is on this premise that the footwear industry is preparing for the forthcoming edition of theMICAM, to be held from 14 to 17 February 2016 at the Fiera Milano (Rho) trade-fair centre. A total of 1,444 exhibitors, made up of 816 Italian and 628 foreign companies, grouped into various different thematic areas, will be showing international buyers their proposals for the next season, in a period in which strong markets such as Russia are shrinking, creating real problems for exporting companies who are now turning towards new opportunities.
“In this situation, the trade fair remains an unmissable appointment for all those who are looking for an event that showcases both variety and quality products – says Annarita Pilotti, Chair of ASSOCALZATURIFICI – While the best of Made in Italy, with its universally admired stylistic potential, remains the jewel in the crown of the exhibition, a number of top-quality international exhibitors will also be present, providing us with a fascinating glimpse into different tastes and cultures.”
An exceptional platform to help us understand trends that now more than ever appear to be ‘open’ and variegated: so that on the one hand we have shoe styles that stress the craftsmanship of shapes and materials, with retro details and traditional working methods, on the other we have a number of trends that conjure up a utopian future full of colour and innovation. The variety of materials and detailing follows these stylistic trends, offering everything from vintage leather to shiny vinyl, from classic laces to metal details and fastenings. In short, opposites that attract and become complementary form part of the trends for the next season.
The substantial fragmentation of consumer taste and the complexity of the market means that those operating in the industry need an efficient “compass” to help them identify opportunities and optimise their offer: this is why during the four days of the exhibition theMICAM will be holding a series of daily briefings for trade professionals in theMICAM Square, in which the focus will be on countries of interest such as USA, China, Western and Eastern Europe. As well as identifying the stylistic trends of greatest interest to the various market areas, we will also be discussing the latest developments in in-store and on-line sales techniques.
Furthermore, theMICAM will once again be presenting a full program of fashion shows which will enliven the catwalk for the entire duration of the exhibition. Showcasing brand new ideas in footwear and original ways of dealing with the challenge of changing consumer tastes, they will enable trade professionals to discover the models, shapes, colours and combinations proposed by some of the brands present at theMicam and orient themselves better amongst the products on offer in all their various forms.
The footwear industry is ready once again to move in unison towards the development of new markets, turning fears into awareness and difficulties into opportunities ready to be seized.
At theMICAM, the footwear industry’s many different ‘voices’ will unite in sending out a single strong message to buyers on the international market. And no doubt the response will not be long in coming.
