La mejora del confort es una de las premisas iniciales, como añadido a la necesidad fundamental de combatir la problemática del olor y la sudoración de los pies Minimizar el crecimiento de microorganismos en las plantillas del calzado es el principal objetivo del proyecto Porosolor, en el que están inmersos los investigadores del área de nanotecnología del Centro Tecnológico del Calzado de La Rioja para la obtención de una nueva línea de zapatos que comercializará la empresa Zel´s bajo la marca Fabiolas. Concretamente, se están empleando materiales y metodologías novedosas que, sobre todo, disipen la aparición del olor provocado por la aparición de bacterias que proliferan con la humedad. Y es que, según expertos de la Academia Española de Dermatología, el sudor con origen en las glándulas ecrinas, situadas en zonas del cuerpo como los pies, no "huelen". La colonización bacteriana posterior al sudor es lo que provoca que se vuelva maloliente.
